Abstract
This literature review provides a comprehensive
analysis of the use of the internet by users in university libraries, focusing
on key aspects such as trends, challenges, impact, user behaviour, and the role
of librarians. The review examines the evolution of university libraries in the
digital age and highlights the convenience, accessibility, and vast information
availability offered by the internet. It explores the transformational effects
of internet usage on library services, including digitization, remote access,
and integration of new technologies. The impact of internet usage on user
behaviour and information-seeking practices is investigated, along with
challenges related to information overload, credibility assessment, and digital
literacy. The role of librarians as facilitators of information is discussed,
emphasizing their guidance in navigating the online landscape. Research gaps
are identified, emphasizing the need to explore social media, artificial
intelligence, and data analytics. The importance of user surveys and usability
studies is emphasized for understanding evolving user needs. This literature
review provides valuable insights for library professionals to adapt their
services and resources to support users in the digital era.
